DSE Assesments

Since 1993, all employers have had a statutory and legal duty to provide their employees with a safe working environment in line with working practices. Sitting at a computer for lengthy periods of time can cause postural problems and can even lead to more serious upper limb disorders if the employee is not sitting in the correct position, with their workstation and surrounding equipment in accordance with DSE guidelines.

It is vital for your employees’ wellbeing that they are assessed to ensure optimum comfort and compliance which will, in turn, help prevent conditions such as upper limb disorders or Deep Vein Thrombosis.

When it comes to workstation assessments it is not a case of ‘one size fits all’. Depending on the nature of your business, some employees may only require an elementary assessment to comply with DSE guidelines in the interest of Health and Safety. Others may need a more extensive approach to an assessment, particularly if they are suffering from a specific physical work-related issue, a disability or are pregnant. Elysium has designed two types of assessment so your company has complete flexibility.

Taking all DSE factors into consideration, any necessary changes can be made there and then with each user. A full written report is then produced, including any further recommendations.

SIMPLE ASSESSMENT
This assessment focuses on covering the basic set up of the employee’s workstation (chair, desk, computer and related equipment) within DSE guidelines to enable the user to work in the most ergonomic way possible. Advice is given on adopting correct posture so that the user is able to combat potential work-related upper limb disorders or back issues. The assessment also takes into account the surrounding working environment, such as space, lighting and temperature levels. Advice is given to each employee on simple exercises and stretches they can do themselves to help alleviate aches, tensions and also any symptoms of eyestrain.
£28 per assessment

COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT
A comprehensive assessment covers the same ground as within a simple assessment but is designed more for those users who are in need of a bit more attention, such as anyone with a particular physical disability, who is in recovery after an injury or serious illness, or who is pregnant.
£45 per assessment
